Tried and definitely can be used in Japan. However, it would stop intermittently when in use and then auto re-start. I am not sure why but it happened every night.
Bought the ProTraveller so that I can bring it everywhere I go, including Japan, or on cruise and not worry about voltage or no-good hotel hair-dryers. Tried it at home and wow, dry my hair at least 50% faster than my usual 2200W hair-dryer and the shape of hair so much better (I have wispy ends that often “runaway like mad”).
